basking in my computer's warm glowing warming glow

one good thing about being unemployed and having an rss feed is that i've been way more up to date on current events than ever before. i've lost touch with the world just outside my apartment, but i'm so much closer to the world at large. as a kid, the news was always on in our house. but as much as i've always tried to act like i know what the fuck is going on in the world, it's always been a peripheral knowledge, listening to others recount the news or picking up headlines here and there. it's kind of like when i started discovering music on my own, only less self-involved. it's as hard as it ever was to hear about destruction, appression, those it's-probably-too-late environmental stories, and perpetually moronic campaign coverage, but at a time when my own feelings of self-worth are so low, it's nice to feel part of something bigger.

another thing that being unemployed and having an rss feed has made me realize is that my friends need to post way more. that's right, assholes, i'm talking to you. and i'll read anything. you could post every day about what you're eating for lunch and i'd read it.

I've been meaning to keep up with the news better, too. Maybe I should set up some RSS action, cause I'm bad at keeping up with blogs, too. Go read my blog if you want, I've been adding some dorky posts about books again.
